Thank you for your interest in the Call for Action. During the months of April and May, 2007, coalition partners from across the country hosted the first-ever series of Education Town Hall Phone Forums in 17 States to discuss the No Child Left Behind Law (NCLB). Using new state-of-the-art phone technology, 31 new Members of the U. S. House of Representatives were able to hear directly from thousands of parents, teachers and community leaders about the law's impact on students, families, classrooms and public schools. The dialogue provided valuable feedback on how to improve the law when Congress reconsiders it later this year.
The town halls provided a unique opportunity for constituents to inform their elected leaders in Washington, D.C. about what works best for children and public schools - and all from the comfort of their own home. Representatives presented their top education priorities and then answered several questions from constituents. The participants also had the opportunity to provide feedback through use of an instant polling feature, and could leave voice mail messages for the Representative at the end of the call. Throughout the town hall an independent moderator surveyed the participants on key policy questions regarding NCLB and other education priorities.
If you missed the call, please visit the call archive section of the website to listen to a recording. We also encourage you to write your member of Congress to keep your Representative fully informed about your viewpoint about the No Child Left Behind law.
